Jah Sound USA was founded in 2012 by three friends

DJ Wayne, Short Dog and Drew. Initially, they were

primarily focused on renting sound systems and equipment.

DJ Wayne had gained experience in Jamaica, while Drew

had played for various sounds in the USA, so they had

the know-how. Short Dog had the dream of starting a sound system for his

son, Jaheim, and named it “Jah Sound.” At first, it was all in good fun,

but Drew took the idea seriously, and they began acquiring equipment and

arranging dubplates. DJ Wayne, Short Dog and Drew decided to team up andsoon received their first bookings.

 

Their real breakthrough came when they got in touch with the Jah Sound brothers from the Netherlands, an established sound system that had been active since 1989.

 

Jah Sound USA started out of pure love for the music that Drew grew up with and has since evolved into

a real movement. This crew has worked hard to promote their movement, and today they work as one team with Jah Sound from the Netherlands.

 

In 2019, Jah Sound USA began participating in clashes, starting with a showdown against the sound called Passion. They won that clash in a true shootout. After that, they secured victories against Jani, and twice against Blackbelt, both in DC and NYC. The first encounter with Blackbelt ended in a loss, but in NYC, it resulted in a draw. Recently, they also participated in the I Octane Cup Clash, where they made it to the third round. They are steadily building their clash resume and continue to grow.

 

In addition to clashes, they play every weekend at clubs, dances, and private events. Drew is also active as a promoter, organizing events, including his annual birthday celebration in September, where they always bring their own sound system.
